WASHINGTON – DOD Watch issued the following statement in response to former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Charles Q. Brown's recent op-ed on civil-military relations:
"General Brown's decision to pen an op-ed warning about the politicization of the U.S. military is one of the most brazen acts of revisionism to emerge from a former Biden Pentagon official. This is a man who served as the top advisor to the Secretary of War and the President while the Pentagon was systematically transformed into a laboratory for ideological experimentation – watching silently, or worse, cheering it on, as the institution he led drifted further from its core mission of warfighting excellence. "Under the leadership of officers like General Brown, the Pentagon spent years rewarding identity over ability, forcing servicemembers to sit through training designed to divide rather than unite, and carrying out policies that drove thousands of qualified men and women out of the ranks. One example is General Brown personally penning a policy of race quotas for Air Force officers, a program so aggressive it made the Ivy League blush, even before the Supreme Court struck down affirmative action in university admissions. “The all-volunteer force paid a steep price for that era of misplaced priorities: in recruitment, in readiness, and in the trust of the American people. Brown had the power to push back. He did not. General Brown fanned the flames, and he’s now criticizing efforts to put out the fire of decades of military politicization. "Secretary Hegseth always puts the mission first. By dismantling the DEI apparatus, restoring standards-based leadership, and refocusing the Department of War on lethality and combat readiness, Secretary Hegseth is rebuilding a military worthy of the nation it defends. DOD Watch stands firmly behind that mission and will not be lectured on civil-military norms by those most responsible for destroying them." About DOD Watch: DOD Watch is dedicated to examining and informing the public about wokeness in the Department of War. By increasing public awareness of radical policies and practices infiltrating the Pentagon, DOD Watch aims to return the U.S. military to its mission of national defense through the traditional values of strength, excellence, and unity. |
