DOD Watch Applauds Appeals Court for Upholding Transgender Troop Ban

WASHINGTON – DOD Watch, an organization dedicated to calling out radical policies within the Department of Defense, issued the following statement after an appellate court upheld Secretary Pete Hegseth’s directive reaffirming long-standing standards for military service: 

“This ruling is a decisive victory for military readiness and for the principle that America’s armed forces must remain focused on strength, unity, and mission accomplishment, not on social agendas that distract from warfighting priorities.

“By upholding Secretary Hegseth’s directive, the Court recognized what should be obvious: the Constitution entrusts the executive branch with maintaining a fighting force capable of defending the nation. Policies governing who may serve must be grounded in objective military requirements, not in ideological pressures or political activism. 

“This decision reinforces the core truth that the military’s purpose is to win wars. Standards exist for a reason, and leaders must be empowered to set policies that protect cohesion, preparedness, and operational capability. Today’s ruling strengthens that authority. 

“We commend Secretary Hegseth for his commitment to restoring the Department of War to its foundational mission and for resisting efforts to inject identity-based policymaking into the ranks. The Court’s decision ensures that our armed forces can remain focused where they belong, on defending the United States with excellence, discipline, and unwavering resolve.”
