DOD Watch Applauds Sen. Jim Banks for Leading Effort to Block DEI-Driven Military Promotions

DOD Watch, a group dedicated to calling out radical policies within the Department of Defense, released the following statement after Senator Jim Banks (R-IN) blocked the promotion of an Air Force colonel who supported and advocated for the practices of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the military:

“DOD Watch commends Senator Jim Banks for his leadership in standing against the infiltration of divisive DEI ideology in our Armed Forces. By placing a hold on the promotion of Air Force Col. George H. Sebren, who openly advocates for race- and gender-based ideologies, Senator Banks is taking action where others have been all bluster.

“For years, many in the Senate have voiced concern over the corrosive effects of DEI policies on military cohesion, readiness, and merit-based advancement. Yet few have matched those words with decisive action. Senator Banks’ bold move sends a clear message: our military should be focused on mission readiness and national defense, not social engineering.

“The Armed Forces are at their strongest when they are united by shared values, not divided by identity politics. Promoting officers based on anything other than merit undermines the effectiveness of our military and the trust of the American people. We applaud Senator Banks for rejecting this dangerous trend and using his authority to uphold excellence and accountability in our nation's leadership. DOD Watch encourages others in Congress to follow his lead.”
