WASHINGTON – DOD Watch, an organization dedicated to calling out radical policies within the Department of Defense, issued the following statement condemning the promotion of Lt. Gen. Jonathan P. Braga to lead the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC):

"DOD Watch strongly condemns the nomination of Lieutenant General Jonathan Braga to lead the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). Braga's record of aggressively advancing radical DEI initiatives – at the expense of morale, merit, and unit cohesion – renders him unfit to lead our nation’s most elite warfighters.

“During his tenure as commander of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), Braga went far beyond merely following orders for equity. He championed the ideological infiltration of our armed forces. His 2023 ‘Women in ARSOF’ report exemplifies this activism.

“Rather than simply assessing integration challenges, Braga publicly undermined his own operators, courageous men on the front lines, by labeling them as sexist for expressing grounded, experience-based concerns about combat effectiveness. He solicited their honest feedback, only to cast it aside in favor of politically correct narratives.

“Under Braga’s leadership, USASOC also embraced overt LGBTQ+ activism. In 2023, the command’s official channels promoted the intersex-inclusive Pride Progress flag during Pride Month, an act that sent a clear signal: identity politics was being prioritized over mission success. Braga also signed a DEI memo that made diversity metrics a mandatory performance standard for leadership, pushing the military further from a merit-based culture and closer to a bureaucracy of quotas and ideological litmus tests.

“Lt. Gen. Braga was not just a passive participant in these trends. He was a driving force behind them. From promoting social experiments within the ranks to installing leadership based on demographic symbolism, Braga has demonstrated an allegiance to the woke agenda over warfighting excellence.

“JSOC deserves a leader who puts mission over messaging, merit over ideology, and strength over sensitivity. Lt. Gen. Braga is not that leader. President Trump needs a commander who reflects the principles of warfighting excellence, accountability, and traditional military values, not one who has spent recent years undermining them.”
