DOD Watch Statement on the Ending of Race-Based Admissions at U.S. Service Academies

WASHINGTON – DOD Watch, an organization dedicated to calling out radical policies within the Department of Defense, issued the following statement following the settlement to end race-based admissions at West Point and the Air Force Academy and the implementation of a merit-based admissions system: 

“DOD Watch applauds the decision to end race-based admissions at West Point and the U.S. Air Force Academy. This marks a critical victory for merit, excellence, and the restoration of traditional values within our armed forces. The implementation of merit-based admissions, which comes as a result of the settlement of lawsuits brought by Students for Fair Admissions, sends a strong message: America’s military institutions must prioritize leadership, ability, and achievement over ideological social engineering.  

“The Department of Defense should be singularly focused on building the strongest, most capable fighting force, not indulging in divisive DEI practices that undermine cohesion and readiness. True equality is achieved through a level playing field, not quotas or identity politics. It’s almost concerning that this announcement came in response to a court ruling, as opposed to adherence to the lawful orders of the President and the Secretary of Defense.

“With this move, the Department of Defense takes a long-overdue step toward eliminating wokeism and reaffirming its commitment to strength, unity, and merit. However, Americans will only be able to validate compliance to federal law by constant vigilance and accountable leaders at West Point. DOD Watch will continue to monitor and support efforts to remove radical ideology from our military and restore its focus on national defense.”
