DOD Watch Statement on the Latest Draft of the NDAA

WASHINGTON – DOD Watch, an organization dedicated to calling out radical policies within the Department of Defense, issued the following statement in response to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and the ongoing efforts to curb the influence of DEI policies within the military:

"DOD Watch strongly supports the measures in the NDAA aimed at limiting the destructive influence of DEI policies on our armed forces, but we urge Congress to take bolder action to ensure that these policies are permanently eradicated. While the Senate Armed Services Committee made commendable strides, these changes do not go far enough in restoring the military's focus on combat readiness and merit-based leadership.

“Under the Biden administration, DEI policies infected every aspect of the Pentagon, from recruitment to promotion boards, undermining the military’s primary mission: to protect our nation’s security. The previous administration's misguided priorities created an environment where racial and gender identity politics took precedence over operational excellence and the development of warfighters.

“Republicans in Congress now have an opportunity to rectify this by ensuring that DEI is not just pushed out of recruitment and admissions, but stripped from every corner of the military. The current NDAA drafts, while a step in the right direction, still leave room for progressivism to creep back into the force. Congress must act decisively to ban identity-based quotas and ensure that military selection boards remain solely focused on selecting the most qualified individuals to lead and defend this nation.

“The lessons of the past are clear: prioritizing DEI over combat readiness weakens our military and diminishes our global standing. Congress must go further to enshrine President Trump’s and Secretary Hegseth’s warfighter ethos into law, ensuring that future generations of military leaders are only chosen for their skill, strength, and ability to win wars. Now is the time for Congress to act."
