DOD Watch Statement on the Pentagon's Review of Women in Combat

WASHINGTON – DOD Watch, an organization dedicated to calling out radical policies within the Department of War, issued the following statement after the Pentagon initiated a review of the effectiveness of women in combat.

"DOD Watch strongly supports the Pentagon’s decision to conduct a serious, data-driven reassessment of women in ground combat roles. This review is long overdue and reflects a necessary return to first principles: combat effectiveness, unit cohesion, and mission success—not politics—must govern who serves in the most demanding warfighting positions.

“Combat does not bend to ideology. Enemy fire does not care about diversity targets, social theories, or bureaucratic talking points. The physical and mental demands of ground combat are immutable, and the standards required to survive and win must be uncompromising, uniform, and sex-neutral. Any deviation from those standards in the name of social experimentation puts lives at risk and undermines military readiness.

“For years, the Pentagon has faced intense political pressure to prioritize optics over outcomes, often at the expense of real assessments of performance and lethality. This review must confront that reality. If combat standards were weakened, altered, or selectively enforced to satisfy ideological goals, they must be restored immediately and without exception. 

“This review is not about barring individuals based on sex. It is about enforcing excellence without apology. Anyone who can meet the highest combat standards should earn their place. Anyone who cannot should not be passed through for political convenience. National security demands the courage to reject failed social experiments. Warfighting must come first. The U.S. military exists to win wars, not to serve as a laboratory for ideological theories.”
