DOD Watch Statement on U.S. Army Library Review

WASHINGTON – DOD Watch, an organization dedicated to exposing radical policies within the Department of Defense, issued the following statement after reports emerged that the U.S. Army directed its libraries, including West Point, to flag books that promote DEI, gender ideology, and critical race theory for potential removal:

"DOD Watch supports the U.S. Army’s recent decision to conduct a thorough review of materials within its library system, including at West Point, that overtly promote divisive ideologies under the banners of DEI, gender ideology, and critical race theory. The DOD must remain focused on its singular and solemn mission: to protect and defend the United States of America. Anything that undermines meritocracy, cohesion, and combat readiness must be closely scrutinized.

“This review is about upholding the core principles that make our military the most effective fighting force in the world: unity, discipline, and strength rooted in shared values. Materials that prioritize ideological activism over mission readiness risk fracturing the bonds that hold our armed forces together. In a military environment, especially at institutions like West Point, the emphasis must remain on excellence, leadership, and service, not political or social experimentation.

“The American people expect their military to be mission-ready, not distracted by controversial social theories that sow division rather than build unity. We commend the Army for taking this issue seriously and urge senior leadership to continue resisting efforts to politicize our armed forces.”
