DOD Watch Statement Supporting Service Academy Reforms Under Secretary Hegseth

WASHINGTON – DOD Watch, an organization dedicated to exposing radical policies within the Department of Defense, issued the following statement in response to Secretary Hegseth’s efforts to restore merit-based standards and eliminate DEI-driven policies at America’s military service academies:

“Secretary Hegseth understands that restoring the warrior ethos among current and future service members is a matter of national security. That’s why he is taking swift and decisive action to ensure our military academies return to their core purpose: producing combat-ready leaders grounded in duty, honor, and country. The fact that DEI was ever intentionally infused into these institutions is absolute lunacy. It has degraded academic standards, undermined merit, and sown division among those training to lead our nation’s military. The Trump administration is making it unmistakably clear: this era is over.

“America’s service academies should be the gold standard of military education, not laboratories for progressive social engineering. For years, young cadets and midshipmen were subjected to race-based programming, divisive lectures, and lowered standards under the false guise of ‘equity.’ These policies not only failed our future officers, they endangered the very mission of the United States military.

“DOD Watch applauds Secretary Hegseth and the Trump administration for taking a stand. This is more than a policy correction, it’s a return to sanity. Military academies must once again become places where excellence is the only standard, where unity is forged through shared purpose, and where the focus is on warfighting, not wokeness.”
